In the novel Number the Stars the theme is friendship. Friendship means to put that person before you and that you really care about that person. For an example in the book the main character Annemarie show friendship to her friend Ellen when they meet a soldier in the beginning of the book it say when the girls are being stopped by a german soldier who had told them to halt in a stern voice the word was frightening but very familiar to Annmarie because she had heard them say it to many people in copenhagen when, but she was never stopped by a solder so she was scared but didn't want to show it. When the soldiers asked for each of their names she had said “i'm Annemarie Johansen and this is my friend Ellen” see how she had not told them her last name there is a reason the reason is that she was jewish and the solder were taking these people and taking them away from there home. Later in the novel Mama had shown friendship to Mrs.Rosen Because she had taken her child and took her in and acted like she was her kid while the rosen run away with peter who knows where. Then last later in the novel Peter nielsen gives his life for freedom for his country when he was helping the jewish in Denmark he had been shot in public and he had no time to say goodbye in person. He had help people escape from denmark then soon the war was over he was no longer with us in the end of the story.

The soldier came to the house to see why is there so many people in the house mama said that they are say goodbye to aunt brouck but there was nothing in the coffin so mama but her life in rick. I think that the theme of "Number The Stars" well first of all never let your feelings get in your way of what you want because Annmarie's older sister Kristy died of a milatery man who ran her over, and she was getting married in 2 weeks. The mom and dad were so sad and they did dent do any hing because they were so misread. But the theme is courage because everyone in the story had courage. When Annmarie's mom went to go drop of the children to uncle Henrik, When Annmarie went to go drop off the basket to uncle Henrik and she got stopped by the soldiers. That all played an important part of the story.
