The theme of the text “How Tia Lola Came to Stay” is common ground. Finding common ground with others helps people get along in spite of their differences. For example, the team needs a place to practice baseball and the Colonel has a common ground on baseball, so he decided to lend them his baseball area. Another example is when Tia Lola paints the house bright purple, but the Colonel said he will evict them if they don’t change it back in a month. Tia Lola comes up with an idea to invite the Colonel to the team therefore making common ground with him. In conclusion, finding common ground can help people get along with each other.

The theme of the story is finding common ground with others in spite of their differences. The colonel and miguel share a love for baseball because colonel use to play baseball when he was little. Tia lola believes that she and the colonel share some understanding about each other. Tia lola made the uniforms purple because she painted the house purple. They got to stay in the house because they had a baseball game and the colonel let them stay.

  3. I think the theme of the the story “How Tia Lola came to stay” is finding common ground. That means that two people like the same kind of thing. For example Miquel and the Colonel both like baseball. Three details that explain the theme is number 1, as I said they share a love of baseball. Number 2, Tia Lola believes she can settle something with the Colonel. Then number 3, the uniforms that are purple, like his house, sparks something in his body saying, “LET'S PLAY BALL! So that's how I know that the theme is finding your common ground.

  4. In the story How Tia Lola came to visit / stay the theme is common ground. Common ground is shown throughout the story for example in the beginning the team needs a place to practice playing baseball. They ask to use Charlebois property and he says yes because hes a big baseball fan. The Colonel and Miguel both share a love of baseball. Another part in the story that shows common ground is when Tia lola paints the house bright purple and then Charlebois may evict them but then Tia Lola believes that she and the Colonel share an understanding. This shows that common ground is the theme of this story.

The theme of the story ¨How Tia Lola Came to Stay¨, is Common ground. Common ground is when you have things in common even though you are different. In the beginning, Miguel finds a picture of a man named Colonel Charlebois playing baseball and was smiling. Charlebois was known as grumpy man. Miguel also plays baseball with his friends. Tia Lola comes and she paints the house purple. Colonel Charlebois doesn't like it because he basically owns the property and all the other houses are white. Charlebois says if they don't change the house back to its original color, then they would have to move out. Tia Lola tries to convince Charlebois by inviting him to the baseball game, making a sign to make feel apart of the team, and make purple uniforms for the team. The Colonel loves baseball and so Miguel plays with him. Charlebois and Miguel have a thing in common and it is that they love baseball. They both find common ground in each other.

  8. The theme of Tia Lola is that finding common ground with others helps get along in spite of there differences. One reason why this is the theme is in the story miguel needed a place to play baseball so miguel sent a letter to the colonel. and a few days latter the colonel said he was glad to have them play baseball. Another reason is Tia Lola painted the house purple and the colonel said if you don't paint the house back to white you can leave but Tia lola had a plan she made the jerseys purple and she put charlies boys on it and that made him feel apart of the team. So the house could stay purple and they could play baseball with the colonel.

The theme in the story “ How Tia Lola came to stay” is finding common ground with others, help people get along in spite of their differences. And we can see many examples during the story. Tia Lola knows this plan will work, because she know that the Colonel love baseball. Finally the team use his property. Then the big trouble come, Tia Lola paints Miguel’s house bright purple. The Colonel may evict them, but Tia Lola has a plan, she belive that she and the Colonel share an understanding. She still keeps the house purple, and make the uniform of the team purple, and penant “ Charlebois’s boys” it make him feel part of the team.

  12. The theme of the story Tia Lola common grounds. Common grounds means you have something in common with someone you have never meet. In the story tia lola has a house and she paints it purple but then her and cornal both shared the same understanding. Then there's miguel and the cornal both also share the love of baseball. Then when the cornal gets mad about the painting house fiasco then she has a plan that may work and save the day. When they are ready and the carnal is just pulling up he has seen them and wants to play.

The theme in the story “Tia Lola came to stay” is common ground. In the beginning the team needed a place to play baseball, so they sent a letter to colonel Charlebois if they could use his property and he said yes because Miguel and the colonel both share a love of baseball. One day Tia Lola paints the Colonel's house purple and later the family received a letter from Charlebois. The family worried that they were going to get evicted, but Tia Lola is not concerned because she may have a plan. In the story that shows that Tia Lola and the Colonel share an understanding. In the end of the story Tia Lola decides to paint half of the house white and the boys were wearing their uniforms, this explains that the uniforms and pennet help the colonel feel part of the team. Which leads us to, finding common ground with others helps people get along in spite of their differences.

  14. michelle In the story How tia lola came to stay,I think the theme is Finding common ground with others helps people get Along,in spite of their differences,I know this because in the story the baseball team needs a place to practice, they want to use charlebois property. Then Tia lola takes the teams measurements.then she bought fabric with the money the team has collected and is making them their uniforms. So then colonel and miguel thought they didn't have things in common, but towards the middle of the story, they realize that they both share the same love for Baseball. Then tia lola wanted to paint their house purple to remind them of their old house.then they painted it purple.then when miguel's mother comes home from work,he and his friends look like they have helped his mom paint the house.towards the end of the story colonel charlebois stared at the house when the front doors open, nine boys in purple and white striped uniforms and purple baseball caps.then he says let's play some ball, miguel looks in the old man's eyes,He lift his arm and throws the ball at the young boy and the old man catches it. Overall I think the theme is working together and getting along.

The Theme of How Tia Lola Came to Visit /Stay is Having Common Ground with others help get along. Having common ground means liking the same thing or things. This story shows common ground by showing how miguel and his teammates want colonels field to play baseball .They see pictures of him as a baseball player when he was a kid. But they see him as a grumpy old man. But when they send him a card he says yes! Since both of them like baseball they find common ground and get along. Another reason why this story shows common ground is that when Tia Lola paints the house purple colonel gets mad. So he says if they don't paint it back to regulation white they are welcome to get out. But Tia Lola has a plan. Since he likes baseball they name the team charlies boys and they make the uniforms purple like the house. This way he feels part of the team. This shows how they both like baseball and get along . In conclusion the theme of this story is Common Ground.

In the story “How Tia Lola came to stay, visit”, Tia Lola made a plan to stay in the house of Colonel the man who owned the place which wouldn’t let them stay so the plan was to make a baseball game because they figured out that Colonel and miguel both share a love of baseball when he was a kid just like him. They painted their house bright purple and the uniforms because she believed that it would help the colonel feel part of the team, this shows me that the theme of the story is finding a common ground helps people get along in spite their differences.

The theme of the story, “How Tía Lola Came to Visit(crossed out) Stay”, is common ground. What I mean by common ground is that maybe people that had/have things in common are usually likely to get along. For example, Charlebois and Miguel both share a love of baseball. Although Charlebois is a grumpy old man, he did play when he was younger and seemed very happy. Tía Lola believe her and Charlebois share an understanding of what her plan was. What happened was Miguel and his team needed a field for baseball. Charlebois let them use his property. Tía Lola paints the house bright purple when the normal houses are supposed to be white. Charlebois sees the house and gives them a letter saying, “‘Unless the house is back to its original white by the end of the month, you are welcome to move out.’” That’s when Tía Lola gets her idea. Tía Lola send Charlebois a letter inviting him to watch the boys play baseball. Charlebois then notices what’s going on and says,“Let’s play ball!” In conclusion, finding common ground with others help people get along in spite of their differences.

In the story how tia lola came to stay miguel just moved and he likes the place and he made some friends and he like the home. And when tia lola came she like it to and she started to trim the bushes to birds and palm trees. Then tia lola pantis the house purple and when miguel's mom come home she sees what tia lola did to the house and miguel's mom is not happy. Then colonel the owner of the house wrote them a letter that sailed fix the house back to white or move out.
But tia lola had a plan she knew that colonel loved baseball as a kid so she made the baseball team the colonel boys. The theme of the story is common ground because when you have this you can make friends.

  21. In the beginning of the story there was a young lady named tia lola and was from the dominican republic and moved vermont to have new place to live, so she found a house and lived there and found pictures of colones picture as a child in a baseball suit. And miguel thought that that was cool so, and miguel wanted to play ball in a big place so they asked the landlord if they could play on his property, and so they did and every day after practice they got frio-frios but one day tia lola pinated the house “bright” purple and thought it be good but there landlord said that only white for every house. So then he sent a letter if you do not paint paint the house back at the end of the month “you are welcome to leave” so then they got scared and then just said maybe we’ll have to paint it white again said migel but tia lola had other plans. Farther in the story the landlord comes and say what will this house be because ¼ is purple and ¾ are white then everybody comes out then he says lets play ball and then the story was done.

  22. The theme about the story ¨How Tia Lola Came To Stay¨ is finding common ground with people, just like Tilo Lola needed a field to have the team play on, So she asked colonel if the team could use his property for baseball and colonel said yes because he LOVE baseball when he was a kid, and Tila Lola new this because she found a old photo of him in a baseball uniform and smiling. So colonel said yes. Than few days later Tia Lola painted her house purple, but it wasn't her house, so the colonel said you welcomed to leave. She didn't paint it back, but she didn't paint it back because she had a plan to presway colonel into letting them stay and letting them keep the house purple. Her plan was to invite colonel to the baseball game and to make it so he feels like he's on the team. Tia Lola is finding common ground with colonel throughout the story.

In the story “How Tia Lola Came to Visit/Stay” the theme is common ground with others help people get along in spite of their difference . For example the baseball team needs a field to practice, and they asked the colonel if they could use his property for baseball. The colonel said yes because Miguel, and colonel shared a love of baseball. Then tia Lola paints the house purple, because she feels like it’s bland and all the rest of the houses are white and wants a change. Then the colonel send a letter and says,”Unless the house is back to its original white by the end of the of the month you are welcome to move out.” Tia Lola doesn’t worry about it, because she believes that the colonel share an understanding. Then the team has a game and they invite the colonel, and the uniforms and pennant help the colonel feel part of the team. As you can see this story shows common ground.
