In the story, "Journey to Freedom," the main character, Abby, shows inner strength. For example, the text states that her father tells her to collect herbs for a slave, but on her way back, she is stopped by her neighbor when he asks why she was in a hurry. She bravely makes up a fake story so they won't get caught. This shows inner strength because she was undaunted by the neighbor.

In the story, "Journey to Freedom," the main character, Abby, shows inner strength. For example, the text states she shows inner strength when 2 slaves show up at Abby's and her father's house. She learns that one of them is seriously ill with a fever. Her father convinces Abby to get herbs. On her way back, she is confronted by her neighbor. He asks why shes in a hurry, so she bravely makes up a fake story so they won't get caught. This shows inner strength because she was undaunted by the neighbor.

Abigail showed inner strength when she was finding the healing herb on her own. At first she was afraid to found herb, because she didn't repaired for any problem she might caused. And she did not volunteer. Then his dad convinced Abby, she accepted. But she showed inner strength when her neighbor asked her why did she in such a hurry. She stayed calm, to made up a story about she was hunting up mint for mother's special cake recipe. she accomplished her mission perfectly and showed her inner strength.

In the story ¨Journey to Freedom¨, a girl named Abigail shows inner strength when she had to help a lady who had a fever. If she got caught outside picking the herbs without an excuse, she would have gotten in trouble. When her neighbor asked what she was doing, she made up an excuse of her picking mint for a cake recipe. This shows that she has inner strength because she was able to make up an explanation without being suspicious.

  10. In the story Journey to Freedom the main character Abby shows inner strength by coming up with a quick way to answer her neighbor when she asked her what she was doing. On page 326 it states ¨Undaunted, I spun a tale about hunting up mint for Mothers special cake recipe, and my voice was wondrous calm as I presented a sprig¨...for the Missus.¨ On that same page it says ¨I commenced to breathe again.¨ That shows inner strength because in the ¨beginning¨ she was holding her breathe for so long because she was nervous but that all changed.

In the story,"Journey to Freedom", Abby, the main character, showed inner strength. For example, in the text it states that Emma wanted to go out and pick fever herbs but Abby's father wouldn't allow her to go out since she was slave who was hiding so he volunteered Abby to go out and pick them. On her way back she stumbled upon her next door neighbor Mr.Carrington, he asked her why she was in a big hurry. She made up a fake story bravely so her family and her wouldn't get caught. Mr.Carrington believed it and she gave him a present as a distraction. This shows inner strength because she wasn't scared/undaunted by the neighbor.

  16. In the story,"Journey to Freedom", Abigail shows her inner strength by going on a little trip to get herbs for Nellis since she became ill. Abby first feels like fainting. Emma volunteers to get the herbs to help Nellis, but instead Abby's father volunteers Abby to get the herbs instead. Abby then goes out and picks out the mint and herbs calmly, acting like nothing's wrong. On her way home, her neighbor asks why she is in such a hurry. Abby bravely and quickly comes up with a story stating, "Undaunted, I spun a tale hunting up mint for Mother's special cake recipe." Abby then goes home and helps Emma with the tea, giving it to Nellis so she could rest and feel better. Abby shows her inner strength three ways. Although she may have lost her mother, she still helps slaves like Emma and Nellis get to safety. Second, she may have been afraid of going out, but she knew it was the right thing to do to help. Lastly, she bravely went out, got what she needed, and has a nice, short talk and gives a gift to her neighbor to distract him from her being somewhat suspicious.

  18. In the story ¨Journey to Freedom¨, Abigail Parker shows inner strength when she is called upon to help people escape from slavery. Abby helps her father by getting food and water for Nellis and Emma. Nellis does not feel well, so Abby´s father tells her to get some fever herbs. For example, Abby plucks some mint and some white flowers. Suddenly she sees her neighbor and comes up with something to not make it suspicious. This shows that Abby cares for Nellis and Emma and has inner strength because it is her duty to help save the slaves. In the end Abigail notices that Emma and her both share the same desperation, but ¨It´s why folks come together.Problems shared be problems halved.¨ -Mia
