The theme of the text “Facing the Storm” is that important events in your life can transform a person. For example, the text states that at the beginning of the story Isabel is shy, but later in the text, when there is a storm, she gains confidence because she is worried about the birds. Another example is when Amy loses her bossy, cocky, and confident attitude when the storm comes and she gets scared. In conclusion, important events can change people.

How is isabel changed from the hurricane? Well she has changed a lot from the begging of the story because in the beginning she had a girl named amy boss her around, and she didn’t like it. So then a hurricane came to there way at there animal hospital, and isabel had an idea for the birds because she said that if they put them in the lizard ensancsuery because it is in a higher area so isabel did that then her mom found out and they were both happy.

In the story ¨Facing The Storm¨, Isabel, who is a shy seventh grader, saves birds from a flooding room. In the beginning, Amy who is 16 gives Isabel a job to do but Isabel is too busy. In the text it says that a hurricane comes and Isabel tells Amy to stop being too jumpy so the birds don't get scared. Isabel then removes the birds from the flooding room to a reptile room because it is higher. This shows that Isabel is brave while Amy is scared. When the hurricane starts to calm, Isabel is proud of herself for saving the birds and standing up for herself.

Isabel changed when the storm happened because they didn’t give her the job to work with birds, because they said she didn’t know anything about birds. When the hurricane came she wanted to prove them she was worthy. They put the birds in a building but the building was to low and the water would get in. So they transferred the birds in the reptile building because in was on higher ground. She had to summon energy to take charge and save the birds. Things that are important can change people in certain ways.

In the story “Facing The Storm” Isabel the main character changes the way she acts.At the beginning she is shy and lets people boss her around. But then a storm hits and they have to save the birds. Then Isabel comes up with the Idea to put them in to the reptile house. While Amy was panicking. At the end it also states “How did you summon such confidence and courage.” Then she said “All I could think about was how scared the birds must have felt in their cages and I just took charge.” In conclusion Isabell was a shy girl but turned into a confident one because the birds changed the way she acted.

  6. Michelle In the story facing the storm, isabel changed from the beginning to the end I know this because,In the beginning of the story the text states, that Isabel was carefully inserting pages into her her folder, while Amy,bursted into the room and isabel said can I work with the birds, amy said I know more about birds then anyone here. Then at the end Isabel changed because In the beginning of the story the text states that Isabel's mother rushed into the room wit mr.garza, the custodian.they said the Hurricane forecast for miami has skewed to the south and is entering the Gulf,Mrs.moreno reported.then they said I will take you home.Isabel leaped to her feet, excited to have an opportunity to help the birds.Isabel also changed because in the beginning of the story Isabel was scared for the storm when amy called isabel's mother to tell her the news, but she sounded flustered when she hung up.during the storm isabel was scared, but towards the end isabel was proud of herself, because she saved the birds.overall I think isabel overcame her fear of storms.

  7. Isabel isn’t literally transformed by the storm. She is transformed by the storm since she helped save the birds. Isabel was a shy and timid girl. Amy is a girl who would walk with confidence, acting like she owned the place. Isabel would usually follow Amy, but that day was different. Isabel always wanted to help the birds, but her mom said she wasn’t ready. There was a hurricane outside, and the birds were freaking out. Amy lost her confidence, with it going to Isabel instead. Isabel recommends to bring the birds with the reptiles. Isabel’s mom comes back to the center, she sees the work her daughter has done and feels proud of her. In the end, there’s always a way to transform when there’s a dilemma.

  8. Jocelyn In the story Facing the storm Isabel is transformed by the storm. I know this because in the story it says ¨Hey is isabel i got a job for you¨said Amy, then she Barked in. Isabeal recoiled from this. This showed how she is a shy person and does not defend herself. But after amy gets scared about the birds and starts panicking. Isabel takes charge and says ´´ We should move the birds to the reptile house. it's on to higher ground Isabel said calmly. This shows how she is confident. She Says ¨i guess im proud of myself mom¨. In conclusion Isabel is transformed by the storm

Have you ever really wanted to help out somewhere but they just didn't let you that is what is happening to this girl. During the beginning isabel was shy and she wanted to help out the birds but her mom didn't let her. Later when the storm was getting really bad isabel's mom let isabel help and she was so happy. Then she started taking charge and she helped them put the birds to higher ground. Then when isabel's mom came she was proud of what isabel did.

  11. Mia In the story, “ Facing the Storm”, Isabel transforms during the hurricane. In the beginning of the story Isabel was shy or insecure, she couldn’t speak for herself, but she wanted to show her mother that she can work with the animals, but her mom said she was to young. For example one day Amy Jensen, a cocky girl who was so bossy made Isabel feel uncomfortable. Later on in the story the weather is stormy and rainy. Isabel and Amy have to move the birds to the reptile room in order to keep them safe, but Amy starts to panic, I guess she isn’t so confident. Isabel starts taking the lead by giving Amy instructions. In the end of the story Isabel represents herself as a confident and courageous girl to her mother and father because she helped protect the birds, which leads us to the main idea, people can change.

Isabel transformed in the story ¨facing the storm¨ because she was shy and she thought no one was gonna listen to a 7th grader. But when the storm hit and there was gonna be a flood amy had no idea what to do, so Isabel took charge and saved all the birds because of her foresight and cool thinking. After that Isabel mom, Mrs. Moreno said she was very proud of Isabel and Isabel said ¨ I guess i´m proud of myself too, mom!¨

In the story ¨Facing the Storm¨ Isabel transforms during the hurricane when her and Amy were trying to calm down the birds. I know this because in the text it states ¨Don't jump around so much¨ Isabel instructed¨ , this helps support how she changed because at first Isabel was having mixed emotions, because this girl Amy thought that she was always better at everything. Isabel changed because the text also states ¨Isabel was unnerved both Mr. Garza and Amy seemed so panicked¨. And the text says ¨Isabel spoke soothingly to them, and they soon grew calmer. Amy watched in awe and tried to mimic Isabel's tone¨. And at the end of the story you can see how she changed because it says ¨ Isabel paused for a second I guess I'm proud of myself¨ !

In the text facing the storm the girl named Isabel is in a nature center all day. The Detail in the text is Shy Isabel feels frustrated that she doesn’t get to work with the birds at the nature center. Normally bossy Amy is flustered as the storm approaches. That’s all I hear from in the text book about facing storm.

In the text “Facing The Storm” Turner and his family lived in a city Boston and then they move in a little village. He met a girl named Lizzie and they would explore together. Every morning they would go outside, feel the soft breeze, hear the birds chirping, smelling the fresh air. . They went to an island but it was a real struggle getting there. Turner had trouble controlling the oars in the rough choppy water. The tied causes turner to miss the island because the current is to strong. Turner is afraid that the boat will tip. Whales came up. ALL THE CHOPPY WATER AND THE PANIC stopped.
