Compare/Contrast Tia Lola & Music of Many

11 comments:

  1. The two stories The Music of Many and Tia Lola are similar because they are both 3rd person. They are also similar because the landlord and the king are very picky about what they want. Another similarity is that both stories had characters that shared ideas. The final similarity is that in both stories they use teamwork to get stuff done. We know they are both third person because neither of the stories use I or we unless a character is speaking. We know that the landlord is picky because he doesn’t allow the owners to paint their houses any color other than white. The king is picky because he doesn’t like any of the musicians that participate in the auditions even though they are the best in the world. Both stories show teamwork because they show in the Kings story that the king enjoys it more when all the musicians are playing together. In Tia Lola they work together to convince Colonel Charlebois to let them stay in the house. We know they shared ideas because in The Music of Many they shared ideas by playing music together. In Tia Lola they shared ideas on how to convince Colonel Charlebois to let them live in the house they have. The ways Tia Lola is different from the Music of Many is because her story is set in present day when the Music of Many is set in medieval times. I know this because is the Tia Lola story they use cars, but I also know the Music of Many is set in medieval times because they are still using a castle. They are also different because Tia Lola’s story is about baseball whilst The Music of Many is about musicians. This is how the stories are similar and different.

  2. In The Music of Many, the theme is similar to How Tia Lola Came to Stay in the way that both themes have to do with teamwork and sharing ideas. In The Music of Many, after the king has dismissed all of the musicians, they work together to make the music that the king was seeking. At the end of the story, the king says, “‘Allow me to share an insight I have gained. It is not one sound but the music of many blended together that is truly beautiful.’” What the king means by this is that one sound cannot compare to the sounds of many people making music together. This is similar to How Tia Lola Came to Stay because in the story it states, “Colonel Charlebois is still staring up at the house when the front door opens. Out file nine boys in purple-and-white-striped uniforms and purple baseball caps. They look as if the house itself has sprouted them! Miguel leads the way, a baseball in his hand. Behind them, Tía Lola and Rudy each hold the corner of a pennant that reads: CHARLIE’S BOYS.” This paragraph shows that as a team, Miguel and his friends could accomplish something that would convince Charlebois to let the house stay purple. The similarity is that they both have the theme of teamwork.
The difference between How Tia Lola Came to Stay and The Music of Many is that the results of the characters’ teamwork are different. In The Music of Many, the musicians working together to make music results in the pleasure of the king. In the passage, it says, “With that, he commanded his servant to invite all of the musicians to enter and form a royal orchestra. Of course, they would have summers off, once the birds returned.” However, in How Tia Lola Came to Stay, the result of the characters’ teamwork is that the landlord, Colonel Charlebois, approves the purple paint on the house. In the story it states, “Suddenly, he drops his cane in the front lawn and calls out,’Let’s play ball!’ He stands, wobbly and waiting and smiling. Miguel looks into the old man’s eyes and sees a boy, legs apart, body bent forward, a gloved hand held out in front of him.”
In conclusion, the stories The Music of Many and How Tia Lola Came to Stay both have similarities, but they also have their differences.

  3. There are many things that are in common and different in the stories of “The Music of Many” and “How Tia Lola Came to Stay.” One difference between the two stories is that in the story “The Music of Many” it’s about pleasing the king playing music that came from birds , but people needed to make the same sound, however”In the story”How Tia Lola Came to Stay” it’s mainly about a baseball team, and it was also about keeping their important things. These were the main problems in the story. People solved the problem of the king by making all of the people making music to play together. In the other story, they kept their house by warming the heart of the coronel to keep living in his house because The colonel was a grumpy and grouchy old man.One similarity is that they both are about working together, or in other words, working as a team. In the story”The Music of Many” all of the people that played instruments worked together to please the king with the sound of the beautiful melodi. The king liked to hear the beautiful melodies of the birds, but they went away so the king tried to replace the molodi while they were gone inviting the best musicians of the world. In the story “How Tia Lola Came to Stay” all the main characters and the boys’s team helped the colonel to be more happy by inviting him to the house and by playing catch, a baseball game or practise that the colonel liked. The colonel really liked baseball so that warmed his heart and made him feel as happy as ever.Another similarity is that both are told in third person and tell many facts about the characters, and that both stories have the same theme. Sharing ideas and Working as a team came make you succeed. At the end of both stories, everything was solved, and everyone was happy. In conclusion,The stories of “The Music of Many” and How Tia Lola Came to Stay” have many differences and similarities.

  4. In the stories ``Tia Lola’’ and ``The Music of Many’’ the are similar in some ways, but are different in other ways. For example, the landlord that owns the house in Tia Lola doesn't let anyone do anything to the house and the king in The Music of Many didn't like any of the musicians but when they slowly started playing together the king started to like it and said ``At last! That is the sound I have been seeking!’’ The differences is that the places its set in are different. One is in Vermont and the other is some place with a castle and a king.

  5. The story of Tia Lola and The Music of Many, have many similarities and differences. Tia Lola is about a kid named Miguel that needed a place to practice for him and his baseball team. Then they used the Colonel’s love of baseball to let them use his land to practice. Tia Lola decided to paint the house purple which then later led them to almost being kicked out. Tia Lola had an idea to invite him over to change his “Hard Heart” and play baseball with them.
The Music of Many was about a king that loved the sound of the group of birds. Then fall had come up and the group of birds left. The king had missed the birds and looked for the best musicians around the world. He was disappointed in them but later he then realized that the music of many blended together was truly beautiful.
The similarities between these stories is that both of the themes are about teamwork. At the end of both stories the characters got what they hoped for. The characters in the stories had to work hard for what they wanted. The difference between these stories is that Tia Lola is from present day but The Music of Many is from the past. Both stories, “How Tia Lola Came to Stay” and “The Music of Many,” are similar in many ways. One way they are alike is that they both include working together to help solve a problem. They both also have a main problem. They both also included lots of people to help solve the main problem. I know this because in the text, “How Tia Lola Came to Stay,” it states, “Out file nine boys in purple-and-white striped uniforms and purple baseball caps. They looked as if the house itself has sprouted them! Miguel leads the way, a baseball in his hand.Behind them, Tia Lola and Rudy each hold the corner of a pennant that reads: CHARLIE’S BOYS.” And, “ ‘Unless the house is back to its original state by the end of the month, you are welcome to move out.’ ” In the story, “The Music of Many,” it states, “ The king was saddened by the loss of music.” And, “ ‘Allow me to share an insight I have gained. It is not one sound but the music of many blended together that is truly beautiful.’ ”
Both stories, “How Tia Lola Came to Stay” and “The Music of Many,” are different in many ways. One way they are different is that one story is about baseball while the other is about music. One story is in modern day Vermont, while the other is in a long ago kingdom. I know this because in the story, “How Tia Lola Came to Stay,” it states, “Miguel and Juanita Guzman have moved to Vermont from New York City….” And, “Suddenly, he drops his cane on the front lawn and calls out, ‘Let’s play ball!’ ” In the text, “The Music of Many,” it states

    Differences and Similarities
1 similarity between the passages “The Music of Many” and “Tia Lola” is that in the story “The Music of Many” the king’s servant saw his king was sad that the birds flew away. So to cheer him up, he suggested that a musician would play in the winter. This compares to the story “ Tia Lola” when they have to convince the colonel to let them stay at their house. So to convince him, they organized a baseball game and reminded him of his love for baseball. Another similarity between the two stories is the men, in both stories(the colonel and the king) made a decision that helped a group of people. In “ The Music of Many”, the king is, at first, very picky about the musicians that will play for him. At the end of the story, he realizes that a group sounds better than individuals and is more lenient with who he picks. In “ Tia Lola,” the colonel does not like the color of the house, purple. Then Tia Lola hatches a plan to not make him as grouchy as grouch as he used to be. With that, he decides that they could keep their house.
1 difference between the 2 stories is that the setting is different. In “Tia Lola”, it’s present day Vermont and in “The Music of Many”, it’s in a kingdom a long time ago. Another difference is, in one of the stories the main character is a king. In the other story one of the man characters is a colonel. In conclusion, the two stories have many differences and similarities.

  11. Compare and Contrast Tia Lola & The Music of Many
The two texts, Tia Lola and The Music of Many they are similar In many ways. For example, when you work together you can achieve more is a common theme for both of these stories. In, The Music of Many the king liked the music that the birds sang but when the birds left they took their music with them. So the king sent his most humble servant to find the best musician in the world. When they were brought to him he was not impressed by any of their musical tunes. Soon after the musicians all played together he loved the sound and they were all hired. All of their music being played together made is sound simply beautiful just like the birds. In Tia Lola they came up with a plan to keep the purple house that Tia Lola painted purple.the plan was to use colonels love of baseball to change his hard heart. It worked! Some of their differences are, in Tia Lola it is mostly about miguel's crazy aunt who painted his house purple! They also talk about how they convince colonel to keep their house purple by using his own love of baseball against him and it ends up working and they all lived happily ever after! In The Music of Many a king sat by an open window during the Summer and listened to the birds chirping. Each bird was chirping their own tune but together they sounded beautiful. This delighted the king. Though in Autumn days got shorter and one by one the birds flew away. All they left behind was silence this mad the king grow sad. The king's most loyal and humble servant told him that maybe some musicians can play for him in the winter. The king agreed and sent his servants to find the most talented musicians in the world. When the musicians auditioned the king disliked it but then he heard them play together and he loved it.
